Interestingly, I’m in a class this semester called “Communication Technology and Social Change” (though I call it “Technology is Scary”), and we are reading Brave New World, 1984, and Postman’s Technopoly. It’s a bit shocking to read Huxley and Orwell years after their books were written and see how right they are about so much, and how much we still have to fear.
